I love my job. It’s an incredible privilege, traveling and crafting images for a living. Getting a new gig makes you feel like you’ve won the Super Bowl. You can imagine: adventures with new, creative people while discovering beautiful locations and lovely places to eat!

But the truth is, it’s often challenging, technical work. Pre-dawn crew calls and late-night rides home after three 16-hour days, long hours between meals, stinging criticism and the feeling that you’re never doing it well enough.  The grind is real, even after wrap, you still have to hustle your checks.

But there still isn’t anything else I would rather do.  Because even when it isn’t great, this creative life is a full-on adventure.  I particularly send so many thanks to my patient and forgiving wife and family who put up with all of it.

I prefer to start with available light. I try to connect with my subjects and then ideally, disappear. Once I’m part of the furniture, the images reveal themselves.
